“Annette and Lisa gave the children a unique and exciting opportunity for a hands-on experience to develop their skills in both language and art. The children were able to create their own work and were inspired to develop the skills they had learnt. A really good day.”
Dot Lenton, former head teacher at Alburgh with Denton Primary School, now education consultant

“ I haven't been so creative for years! Lisa just got the poetry flowing out of us. We were very proud of our final poems and chose shapes and colours carefully to marry our art and poetry together. A fantastic day!”
Penny Sheppard, Head teacher of Bressingham Primary School

“I found the whole experience a good way to 'loose myself' and 'find myself' all in one day. It was great to be reintroduced to writing poetry and presenting it in such a creative and visual way. A great inspiring experience.”
Hilary Askew, Primary teacher

POETRY AND PRINTS

Suitable For:

The workshops are suitable for ‘Gifted and Talented’ in schools, for Art or English Literature students, for adults and for those with special needs.

Age Group:

7 and upwards

The Technique:

The workshop consists of intensive writing activities with Lisa D’Onofrio, an experienced writer and facilitator, in which the students create pieces of writing, some of which are chosen to be made into a Poetry Print. The topics covered can be linked to the national curriculum after discussion with teachers.

Using these words as an inspiration I teach the students several different printmaking methods in order to create a large, colourful A3 relief print which includes their text.

Lisa and I work together sympathetically, having a holistic approach to creativity. We regularly collaborate together in the writers and artists group InPrint, making book-art and print/text multiples. We were commissioned to design and make the sculptural installation ‘The Sitooterie’ in the gardens of Blickling Hall, a garden seating area combining engraved copper, poetry, sound and stained glass.

Lisa an I have run popular and successful workshops for head teachers and teachers, schools, hospitals, libraries and other community groups. We are also available to run workshops in book-art and miniature art in boxes, all combining creative writing and visual art.
